Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival At Colombo & Transfer To Kandy

Upon arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be welcomed by our representative who will take you to Dambulla. On your way you will visit Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage. It is approximately 55 miles away from Colombo. It was started in 1975 to provide shelter to the wounded elephants. The number of elephants has increased to more than 65 now. It includes baby elephants that are brought form various parts of the world.

The best time to visit is the feeding time from 0930-1000 hrs and 1330-1400 hrs and the bathing time from 1000-1230 hrs and 1400-1600 hrs. At these hours all the elephants are taken to the river close by

After watching the elegant elephants play you will be taken to your hotel in Kandy. You can freshen up and rest for the night and regain energy for the next day.

Day 2: Day Excursion Of Kandy

After a lovely South Indian breakfast, you will be driven to Kandy Temple, Peradeniya Garden, Cultural show, Gem Museum & Gem Shop. This will be a tour of full Kandy city. The city is known as “The Hill Capital”. Ikt is the venue of Annual Perahera. This last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries are keeping alive Buddhist traditions everywhere.

You will also visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Ever since 4th Century A.D, when the Buddha’s Tooth was brought to Sri Lanka, hidden from sacrilegious hands in the hairs of the Odisha princess. The Relic has grown in repute and holiness in Sri Lanka and throughout the Buddhist world. It is considered as Sri Lanka’s most prized possession.

After a full day of soaking the beauty and history in, you will be taken to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Day 3: Kandy To Nuwara Eliya

Your morning will start with an authentic South-Indian breakfast. After breakfast, you will be driven to Nuwara Eliya to capture the beautiful sights there.

Nuwara Eliya is known as ‘The Little England’ of Sri Lanka. The city is set against beautiful backdrops of Mountains, Valleys, Waterfalls and Tea Plantations. It is supposed to be one of the coolest places on the Island, but it is really just like an English spring day. However, the temperature drops at the night, so it is advised to go well-prepared if you are a night stroller.

You will see the evidence of the British influence all around Nuwara Eliya. There are houses that are built like country cottages and Queen Ann Style mansions. The Victoria Park, in the middle of the town, is a lovely place for a picnic. Seasons may be absent elsewhere in Sri Lanka, but here you can read them by the flowers, which bloom in the spring (March to May) and the fall (August and September). These are the “seasons” when low-country folk flock to Nuwara Eliya to escape the sea level heat and humidity.

After a day filled with beautiful sights, you will be taken back to the hotel for a peaceful sleep.

Day 4: Nuwara Eliya To Colombo

After a lovely breakfast, you will check out of the hotel. The driver will take you to Colombo.

Upon arrival in Colombo, you will check in at the hotel and then proceed to the Colombo city tour.

Colombo is the capital of Sri Lanka. Just like any other capital city, it is changing its face at a great pace. However, history is kept protected. A 100-year-old clock tower and several British-built, colonial buildings can still be seen in the city.

You will visit The Pettah bazaar – where one can shop for bargains. You will also visit a Hindu and a Buddhist temple.

There are many other architectural monuments that one can view there such as the Colombo Museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk-art center.

After a full day of roaming around the historical architecture you will be taken to your hotel for a nice and cozy sleep.

Day 5: Departure From Colombo

After a lavish breakfast, check out of the hotel. The driver will take you to the airport from where you will board your flight to your home carrying the weight of lifelong memories with you.
