About Europe

Be prepared for a magical experience of the Northern Lights. The beams dancing across the sky filled with astonishment are worth every minute of your time.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival At Reykjavik

Arrive in Reykjavik and head to the airport for a meet and greet. Get into the taxi and head to the lodging. Check into the hotel upon arrival, then spend the evening at leisure. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 2: Half Day City Tour Of Reykjavik

Following breakfast, you will visit Höfi House, the location of the pivotal 1986 summit between Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev between the USSR and the USA. We will then proceed to the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Centre, which is situated near the historic city harbor and was honored with the European Union for Contemporary Architecture's 2013 Mies van der Rohe Award.

We will drive from Harpa, stopping at the City Hall and making a quick detour to the Parliament building. This will provide you with a great chance to capture a picture of the building and Austurvöllur Park in front of it.

We're going to the largest and one of the tallest churches in Iceland, Hallgrmskirkja Church. We have the opportunity to observe everything at The Perlan Glass Dome with its 360° viewing platform before heading to Bessastair, the official residence of the President of Iceland.

After a leisurely evening, spend the night at the hotel.

Day 3: Evening Tour Of Northern Lights

After breakfast, you get the first half of the day to yourself. It's time for the Northern Light Tour in the evening.

We search far from the brightness of city lights for the elusive Aurora Borealis, also referred to as the Northern Lights. Together, we will search for these magnificent auroras. On a clear night, we might be lucky enough to see the lights dance over the sky in incredible patterns, colors, shapes, and sizes.

Let the lights take your breath away as we gaze in a hypnotic daze. Feel motivated by the wonderful event that is happening in front of you. It is all dependent on perfect weather and timing, so cross your fingers and give it a shot if only for these sights!

From late August to April, one can see the Northern Lights only on clear nights. Thus, we reserve the right to cancel this tour if the evening sky is gloomy or the weather is unfavorable. By no later than five o'clock in the evening, a decision is taken on the trip's viability. Please contact your hotel's front desk or the local provider to inquire about whether we will be leading the tour. We email notifications of our decision to every hotel in Reykjavik.

Every time we leave on a tour like this, we first check the weather forecast for the southwest region of Iceland. To maximize our chances of seeing the Northern Lights, we map out where each path will lead us using historical data.

Please be advised that being a natural phenomenon, the sight of the Northern Lights cannot be guaranteed. If during your tour you fail to see the northern lights, you can reschedule your trip for another night without having to pay anything extra.

Stay the night in a hotel.

Day 4: Reykjavik To Akureyri

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and head to the airport in time for your flight to Akureyri. When you get to the hotel, make your way there and check in.

Evening at leisure and hotel accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Lake Mývatn Classic Day Tour

We will come to get you between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. after breakfast so we can start our Lake Mvatn trip. We depart from Akureyri, head east across the fjord Eyjafjörur, and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains, sea, and town. The gorgeous Goafoss Waterfall is just a 30-minute drive away. We stop there and go for another half hour to the Lake Mvatn region.

The Mvatn Region

While enjoying the fantastic panoramic view of the area, we survey the Sktustaaggar pseudo-craters. The next few hours are spent touring notable natural sites in the area, including Grjótagjá cave, Mt. Námafjall, Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, and Hverir Mud Pools. The gap between the American and Eurasian Continents can be seen there.

Nature Baths near Lake Mvatn

We stop by the Mvatn Nature Baths before heading back to Akureyri. You may take a peaceful dip in a geothermal lagoon at the baths, which are situated in the center of lava fields. The cost of the tour does not include the entrance fee, although it can be added or paid on the spot. At least one hour is spent at the Nature Baths.

We can arrange for other tours that transport you too, from, or close to the Lake Mvatn area.

Finally, you will be then offered a relaxing stay the night in a hotel.

Day 6: Departure From Akureyri

Check out of the hotel after breakfast, and you'll be driven to the airport to resume your journey home. Every expedition starts at the meeting location, which participants oversee finding on their own. For an additional cost, the same accommodations can be scheduled in case transfers are required.
